Off the Beaten Path: Moonlight
The Latchis Theatre’s Off the Beaten Path film series, which showcases recent films which might have slipped under the radar but shouldn’t have, returns with four weekends of amazing movies, starting March 18 and 19.
Off the Beaten Path started two years ago as a way to provide alternatives for those film fans who want something other than the latest Hollywood blockbusters. Audience support has been strong.
The Mud Season Edition of Off the Beaten Path opens Saturday and Sunday, March 18 and 19 at 4 p.m., at the Latchis Theatre, with the Academy Award-winner for Best Picture, “Moonlight.” Local audiences deserve another chance to see this chronicle of the childhood, adolescence and burgeoning adulthood of a young black man growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami.
Off the Beaten Path continues on March 25 and 26 at 4 p.m., with “The Salesman,” the story of a couple whose relationship begins to turn sour during their performance of Arthur Miller’s ‘Death of a Salesman.”
On April 1 and 2 at 4 p.m., the series presents “The Eagle Huntress.” Thirteen-year-old Aisholpan trains to become the first female in 12 generations of her Kazakh family to become an eagle huntress.
Off the Beaten Path concludes on April 8 and 9 with “The Red Turtle,” a dialogue-less film which follows the major life stages of a castaway on a deserted tropical island populated by turtles, crabs and birds.
