The Met: Live in HD – Aida

Acclaimed soprano Anna Netrebko sings the title role as the 2018-19 season of The Met: Live in HD gets under way this Saturday, October 6, at 1 p.m., at the Latchis Theatre, 50 Main St., Brattleboro, with Verdi’s tragedy of Ancient Egypt, “Aida.”
Anita Rachvelishvili sings the role of Aida’s formidable rival, Amneris. The cast also features Aleksandrs Antonenko as the warrior Radames, Quinn Kelsey as Aida’s father, Amonasro, Dmitri Belosselskiy as the high priest Ramfis, and Ryan Speedo Green as the King. Nicola Luisotti conducts.

The Met: Live in HD season continues at the Latchis Theatre on October 20 with Saint-Saens’ “Samson et Dalilia,” followed by Puccini’s “La Fanciulla del West” on October 27. November sees the premiere of “Marnie” by Nico Muhly on Nov. 10, and Dec. 15 brings Verdi’s “La Traviata” to the Latchis screen. Cilea’s “Adriana Lecouvreur” will be simulcast on Jan. 12, 2019, followed by Bizet’s “Carmen” on Feb. 2, Donizetti’s “La Fille du Regiment” on March 2, and Wagner’s “Die Walkure” on March 30. The season concludes on May 11 with Poulenc’s “Dialogues des Carmelites.”
