Our Mission
As stewards of the premier performing and cinematic arts venue in Southern Vermont, the mission of Latchis Arts is to promote and host cultural activities for the benefit of local and regional communities and to preserve the Latchis Memorial Building for future generations..
The Latchis Memorial Building houses four theatres for movies, three of them worthy performance spaces. The newly renovated Main Theatre boasts 750 seats, a full stage, lighting and sound, backstage facilities and the largest movie screen in Southern Vermont. There is art exhibition space fronting Main Street, adjacent to the Latchis 4 theater; and rental spaces for a pub, restaurant, artists and arts educators. In 1938 the Latchis family built this “Town Within A Town—Under One Roof.” Latchis Arts has taken it to the next level, making the Latchis a true hub for art, culture and the creative economy in Southern Vermont.
Latchis Arts is also committed to providing leadership and advocacy for the arts through membership in or close affiliation with the Downtown Brattleboro Alliance, Town Arts Committee, Preservation Trust of Vermont, Vermont Arts Council, Vermont Creative Network, National Trust for Historic Preservation, League of Historic American Theatres and Arts Council of Windham County.
