Met: Live in HD – Akhnaten
November 23, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm
The 2019-20 season of The Met: Live in HD continues at the Latchis Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 1 p.m., with Philip Glass’ “Akhnaten.”
Director Phelim McDermott tackles another one of Glass’s modern masterpieces, with star countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo as the revolutionary title ruler who transformed ancient Egypt. To match the opera’s hypnotic, ritualistic music, McDermott offers an arresting vision that includes a virtuosic company of acrobats and jugglers. Karen Kamensek conducts. The cast also features Disella Larusdottir as Queen Tye, J’Nail Bridges as Neftertiti, Aaron Blake as the High Priest of Amon, Will Liverman as Horemhab, Richard Bernstein as Aye and Zachary James as Amenhotep III.
General admission is $22, $20 for MET CLUB FOREVER members and $10 for students.
