Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival

The second annual Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival New England Tour swings into Brattleboro with six prize-winning films by rising filmmakers on Saturday, April 15, at the Latchis Theatre, 50 Main St. Screenings, each featuring two films, take place at 3:30 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.

The Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival is a juried competition showcasing the work of first- or second-time filmmakers in all genres. The festival is committed to championing new, emerging voices in filmmaking and giving film audiences a chance to discover bright new talents in the filmmaking world. The films being presented on April 15 were selected Best of the Fest by judges and audiences during the festival in August 2016.

At 3:30 p.m., MNFF presents “The Best and Worst Days of George Morales’ Unnaturally Long Life,” winner of Best Short Narrative, directed by Seth Cuddeback and Benjamin Dohrmann, and “Broke,” winner of Best Narrative Drama, directed by Heath Davis.

At 6 p.m., the films are “Pony,” winner of the Audience Award as Best Short, directed by Candice Carella, and “The Guys Next Door,” Audience Award for Best Feature, directed by Amy Geller and Allie Humenuk.

MNFF New England Tour Screenings conclude at 8:30 p.m., with “Phil’s Camino,” winner of Best Short Documentary, directed by Annie O’Neill and Jessica Lewis, and “Walk With Me: The Trials of Damon J. Keith,” winner of Best Documentary, directed by Jesse Nesser.
