Latchis Arts’ popular Movies for Kids series continues in April on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m., at the Latchis Theatre, 50 Main St. Admission is by donation.

This month’s theme is “April is for the Birds,” celebrating our feathered friends. On Sunday, April 9, the series continues with “Chicken Run.” An original, animated comedy from the creators of “Wallace and Gromit,” “Chicken Run” has been hailed as “magical entertainment for all ages” by Roger Ebert.

This is cinematic fowl play of the very best kind, as a clever hen named Ginger plans to fly the coop and get away from Mrs. Tweedy’s farm. The only problem is … chickens can’t fly. Or can they? With the help of a rooster named Rodney, Ginger and the rest of the hens hatch a daring escape attempt. The result … “superb family fun,” according to Jeffrey Lyons.

The series continues on April 16 by “Fly Away Home” and “March of the Penguins” on April 23. We couldn’t resist wrapping things up with a showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds,” obviously for bigger kids, on April 30.
