Southern Vermont Dance Festival

The sixth annual Southern Vermont Dance Festival returns to Brattleboro July 19-22, offering four days of classes, workshops, performances, film and community gatherings in and around downtown Brattleboro.
The Latchis Theatre will be the site of two performances. The festival’s Opening Gala will be held on Thursday, July 19, at 4:30 p.m., and another Gala Performance will be held on Friday, July 20, at 8 p.m.
The Opening Gala offers an exciting array of dance from choreographers and dancers from all around the country and beyond. This gala is always an exciting festival welcome and will feature choreography by Jorgie Ingram, Marissa Masson and more. It is followed by the second annual Summer Community Dinner championed by community members and the Southern Vermont Dance Festival in partnership. This year’s Friday Gala at the Latchis Theatre will feature choreography by Nick Neagle, Dorcas Roman, David Sun and many others. In addition to the performances at the Latchis, this year’s festival features more than 100 classes for all levels, plus an outdoor Promenade performance at a historic landmark, two concerts at The Stone Church, a Resistance/Social Justice Performing Arts walking tour that brings people in to local venues to see dance, theater, vocalists and musicians, a community potluck that is open to all whether or not you can bring a dish with performances of dance and music, dozens of free community events that include dance, live music and workshops around Brattleboro, a Movement Inspired Visual Art Tour, some guerrilla-style performances, a mini dance film festival within the festival and more.
