The Met: Live in HD – Cosi fan tutte

Tony Award-winner Kelli O’Hara stars in a new Metropolitan Opera production of Mozart’s “Cosi fan Tutte, set in a 1950s amusement park and presented as part of The Met: Live in HD simulcast series on Saturday, March 31, at 1 p.m., in the Main Theatre.
A winning cast comes together for Phelim McDermott’s clever vision of Mozart’s comedy about the sexes, set in a carnival-esque, funhouse environment inspired by 1950s Coney Island – complete with bearded ladies, a fire eater and a Ferris wheel.
Manipulating the action are Kelli O’Hara as Despina and Christopher Maltman as Don Alfonso, with Amanda Majeski, Serena Malfi, Ben Bliss and Adam Plachetka as the pairs of young lovers who test each other’s faithfulness.
The New York Times heralded the production as “a winning show … Colorful, inventive, sometimes riotous.” The Wall Street Journal called it “A stroke of genius … Fine young cast … Vocally solid and theatrically committed, their nuanced performances captured the opera’s comedy and pathos.”
General admission is $22, MET CLUB FOREVER members pay $20, and students pay $10. Contact Sharry Manning at 802-257-5717 or sjmpr@comcast.net for information or advance credit card purchases.
