The Met: Live in HD: Rusalka

The Met: Live in HD presents Dvorak’s “Rusalka,” transmitted live to the Latchis Theatre, 50 Main St., in Brattleboro, on Saturday, February 25, at 1 p.m.
Kristine Opolais stars in her first Met performance of her breakthrough role, the title character, in a critically acclaimed new staging of Dvorak’s opera, directed by Mary Zimmerman and conducted by Mark Elder. This haunting love story, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid,” also stars Jamie Barton as the witch Jezibaba, Katarina Dalayman as the Foreign Princess, Brandon Jovanovich as the Prince and Eric Owens as Rusalka’s father, the Water Sprite.
The Wall Street Journal hailed this as a “handsome new production … a luminous performance.” The New York Times called it “a dark sexy hit.”
Running time is approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes, with two intermissions.
General admission is $22, $20 for MET CLUB FOREVER members and $10 for students. For information or advanced credit card purchases, contact Sharry Manning at 802-257-5717 or sjmpr@comcast.net.
